Professor Luke Connelly and colleagues from QUT and VU University of Amsterdam have conducted novel research that shows how effective road safety initiatives in Australia have been at reducing road crashes and road crash fatalities. They show, using state-space modelling, that anti drink-driving measures and other safety initiatives in Queensland resulted in considerable improvements in road safety and large reductions in road crash fatalities. The paper was published in Accident Analysis and Prevention.
