Dr Madonna (Maddy) Devaney

Madonna (Maddy) Devaney joins us from the UQ Research Office where is has been responsible for driving the development of large-scale, mission-aligned research programs that address complex societal challenges.
Maddy specialises in building strategic, transdisciplinary collaborations that position researchers and partners for major national and international funding opportunities. She has worked closely with academic leaders, government agencies, health services, industry and community stakeholders to shape programmatic research pipelines aligned to schemes including National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC), Australian Research Council (ARC), and the Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF).
Her portfolio included leadership of UQ strategic initiatives such as the Health Research Accelerator (HERA) and the development of collaborative research models designed to accelerate translation and deliver public value. She is particularly focused on strengthening research ecosystems, enabling cross-faculty collaboration, embedding consumer and community voice in program design and building sustainable funding pipelines.
Known for her strategic foresight, systems thinking and collaborative leadership, Maddy has worked at the interface of research, policy and practice helping to shape programs that not only secure funding, but deliver meaningful impact for communities locally, nationally and globally.
