Future-focused health workforces
At the Centre for the Business and Economics of Health (CBEH), we value the importance of the current and future health workforce in producing better population health outcomes. We view the health workforce through a broad lens that attends to both paid and unpaid work and extends beyond healthcare professionals to workers in cognate areas such as education, social services, information technology, and manufacturing.
Under this research focus area, we aim to align workforce capacity and capability to evidence-based needs and to optimise the future health workforce for better health, social, and economic outcomes. We support healthcare providers with needs-based workforce planning and distribution models, which become increasingly important as the implementation landscape changes with developments in areas including artificial intelligence and consumer-driven health care.
