Amanda works as a Principal Research Program Coordinator in the EvolveHealth Health Workforce Optimisation program at The University of Queensland’s Centre for the Business and Economics of Health (CBEH).

Amanda graduated from QUT’s School of Optometry with First Class Honours in 2003. Her clinical career entailed practice in most states and territories of Australia, visiting appointments in predominantly Indigenous remote communities in Cape York in Far North Queensland, clinical supervision, support of ophthalmologists, interdisciplinary collaboration, and practice management.

Amanda’s interest in the health workforce has led to contributions on a range of projects. This has included research assistance for the mental health and wellbeing survey of Australian optometrists and performing emcee duties for the national finals of the HealthFusion Team Challenge. Amanda’s project management, policy, and stakeholder engagement skills were utilised by the Queensland Government Department of Employment, Small Business and Training, where she provided high-quality, evidence-based health industry advice and intelligence about emerging industry directions, regional skills needs, training solutions, and employment opportunities. She also worked on the MD Design Project, a major transformation of the Doctor of Medicine curriculum in the Medical School at The University of Queensland.
